About Rumsey's Handmade Chocolates

Master chocolatier Nigel Rumsey has been creating his exquisite range of award winning handmade chocolates since 1991. Starting with just a small catering unit at the back of his house, his simple aim throughout his career has been to produce top quality products from the very finest ingredients.

Thirty years experience as a Chef and Patissier has provided the inspiration and depth of knowledge needed to become a Master Chocolatier of distinction. Nigel has travelled from London to Paris and Geneva in order to perfect his skills and learn the secrets of the gourmet chocolate makers of Europe.

Nigel and his wife, Mary, opened their first coffee shop in Wendover, Bucks, on Valentine's Day 2004. Inspired by the film 'Chocolat', their aim was to provide a wonderful sumptuous environment in which to sit and drink a coffee, tea or hot chocolate whilst choosing from the wonderful selection of truffles, ganaches, pralines, creams and petit fours; each with its own distinctive flavour.

The success of this first shop led to the opening of a second chocolaterie in Thame, Oxfordshire in July 2007.

In November 2016, daughter-in-law Kate Rumsey joined the family business and launched the website and online ordering. Kate continues to work alongside Mary & Nigel to keep the business independent and within the family for (hopefully!) generation to come.

This passion for good food, fine patisserie and hand-crafted chocolates of the very top quality and taste continues to thrive in both chocolateries. Each shop is renowned for its charming atmosphere, friendly service and quality products, and as a place where you can relax and enjoy yourself in unpretentious style.

Rumsey's Handmade Chocolates are now well know across the country; with many chefs now coming to be trained in the art of chocolate by Nigel and his team. Having won multiple awards, Rumsey's have a loyal following of chocolate lovers and are regularly given the feedback that they make "the best" chocolates.
